I jumped into R.E.P.O. with a couple of friends the other night and yeah… I kinda get the hype now. The game is this weird mix of stress and absolute chaos. One minute you're carefully carrying some fragile loot through a hallway, trying not to bump into anything, and the next second everyone’s yelling because something just spawned nearby.
The physics system makes everything feel unpredictable. Not gonna lie, half of our runs ended because someone tripped, dropped something, or bumped into a wall and shattered the item we spent five minutes trying to protect. It’s frustrating, but also the kind of stuff that makes everyone laugh afterward.
Solo is… rough. You can play alone, but it feels pretty brutal sometimes. I've seen a lot of people on Reddit say the same thing, and I kind of agree. When you're by yourself and suddenly a bunch of gnomes or a huntsman shows up, things go downhill really fast.
Co-op is where the game really shines. The proximity voice chat makes it way funnier too. Hearing your friends panic from the next room while you're whispering "don't move" is weirdly tense. And then someone inevitably knocks over a pile of fragile loot or triggers a monster behind the group.
That said, the game definitely still feels a bit early in places. There’s no matchmaking yet, so you pretty much need friends to get the best experience. Lobbies can also be a little unstable sometimes. We had a couple moments where someone couldn’t join or got dropped, which was kind of annoying.
Still, when everything works, the game creates those chaotic moments that are honestly hard to find in other co-op horror games.
