FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is a Japanese action-adventure survival horror game released on March 12, 2026. Developed and published by KOEI TECMO, the game is a full remake of the classic second entry in the Fatal Frame / Project Zero series

As in other entries of the Fatal Frame / Project Zero series, players use the supernatural Camera Obscura to photograph and defeat hostile spirits while investigating cursed locations. The game is part of the long-running franchise that also includes FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Maiden of Black Water.

Game Story

The story follows twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura, who accidentally wander into a mysterious abandoned village filled with vengeful spirits. With no conventional weapons, the sisters must rely on the supernatural Camera Obscura, a special camera capable of capturing and sealing ghosts, to survive while uncovering the dark secrets behind the village’s rituals.
